Collection: Expansion / Overflow Tanks

Expansion / overflow tanks, also known as coolant reservoirs, are crucial components of a vehicle's cooling system. They are designed to provide a reservoir for coolant expansion & storage during temperature fluctuations. As the engine heats up, coolant expands, & excess pressure is released from the radiator into the expansion tank. Conversely, when the engine cools down, the coolant contracts, & the tank supplies the radiator with additional coolant to maintain proper levels. This process helps prevent coolant loss & air pockets within the cooling system, ensuring efficient cooling & preventing engine overheating. Expansion/overflow tanks are typically made of durable plastic or aluminum & are transparent or have a level indicator for easy monitoring of coolant levels. Regular inspection & maintenance of the expansion/overflow tank, such as checking for leaks or cracks, ensuring proper coolant levels, & maintaining the integrity of the cap, are essential for the cooling system's optimal performance & to prevent potential cooling system issues.
