Collection: Turbo Wastegates

Turbo wastegates are essential components of turbocharging systems that regulate the boost pressure produced by the turbocharger. They help maintain the desired level of boost pressure to ensure optimal engine performance & prevent potential damage to the engine. The wastegate is typically integrated into the turbocharger housing or mounted externally, & it features a valve that opens or closes to control the flow of exhaust gases bypassing the turbine. When the desired boost pressure is reached, the wastegate valve opens, diverting some of the exhaust gases away from the turbine, which slows down its rotational speed & reduces the boost pressure. This process helps prevent over-boosting, which can lead to engine damage or other performance issues. Wastegates can be either internal or external, with external wastegates providing more precise boost control & flexibility for fine-tuning the turbo system. They can also be actuated by either mechanical or electronic means. Properly sized & adjusted wastegates are crucial for achieving the desired boost pressure & ensuring the overall reliability & performance of a turbocharged engine.
