Oil Pumps

Oil pumps are vital components of the engine's lubrication system. Their primary function is to circulate oil throughout the engine, ensuring that all moving parts receive a constant supply of lubrication. Oil pumps are typically driven by the engine's crankshaft & are designed to generate sufficient pressure to deliver oil to critical engine components, such as the bearings, camshaft, & valvetrain. They are often located at the bottom of the engine, inside the oil pan. Oil pumps consist of a rotor or gear mechanism that draws oil from the oil pan & pressurizes it before sending it through the engine. They may also include an oil pressure relief valve to regulate oil pressure & prevent excessive build-up. Oil pumps are available in various types, including gear, gerotor, & vane pumps, & their design may vary depending on the engine's specific requirements. Proper maintenance & regular inspection of the oil pump are essential to ensure its efficient operation & prevent oil-related engine damage.
