Thermostats

Thermostats are crucial components of the engine cooling system that regulate the flow of coolant to maintain optimal engine temperature. They are typically located between the engine & the radiator. The thermostat works by opening & closing based on the temperature of the coolant. When the engine is cold, the thermostat remains closed, preventing coolant from flowing through the radiator. This allows the engine to warm up quickly. Once the engine reaches the desired operating temperature, the thermostat opens, allowing coolant to flow through the radiator to dissipate heat. If the engine temperature drops below the set threshold, the thermostat closes again to maintain the optimal operating temperature. Thermostats are designed to ensure that the engine doesn't overheat or run too cool, which can negatively impact performance & fuel efficiency. Over time, thermostats can wear out or become stuck in either the open or closed position, leading to overheating or poor heating in the cabin. Regular maintenance & replacement of thermostats are important to ensure proper engine cooling & overall performance of the vehicle.
