Turbochargers

Turbochargers are forced induction systems that use exhaust gases to drive a turbine, which in turn powers a compressor to increase the amount of air entering the engine. This compressed air allows for more fuel to be burned, resulting in increased power & performance. Turbochargers offer several advantages, including improved engine efficiency, increased horsepower, & enhanced torque. They are particularly effective at higher engine speeds & can provide significant power gains without significantly increasing engine displacement. Turbochargers come in various sizes & configurations to match different engine applications & performance goals. They can be either air-to-air or air-to-water intercooled to cool the compressed air before it enters the engine, improving its density. Turbocharged engines may experience some turbo lag, which is the delay in power delivery caused by the time it takes for the exhaust gases to spool up the turbine. However, modern turbocharging technology has greatly reduced turbo lag, making it less noticeable in many applications. Proper maintenance & care, such as regular oil changes & cooldown periods after spirited driving, are important to ensure the longevity & reliability of a turbocharged engine.
