Pop-Top Strut [Vanagon/Eurovan Weekender]

This locking pop-top strut is a direct replacement for all Eurovan Westfalia Multivan/Weekenders with the "late style" gas strut lifting mechanism. It will also fit Vanagon Westfalia pop tops when fitted with our Heavy Duty Lift Assist Kit.

• 1997-03 Eurovan Westfalia MV/Weekender - Not Winnebago
• 1980-91 Vanagon Westfalia - Only with GoWesty Lift Assist Kit

Sold individually. Two required per vehicle.

Fit note: This product does not fit Eurovan Westfalia Full Campers or Winnebago Campers. They have much shorter struts.

Locking Feature

The locking sleeve is easily removable, should you decide that you don't need the added security. When we install these in-house, we add one locking strut and remove the locking sleeve on the other to make lowering the top a one-man job. If you routinely carry a heavy load on the pop-top, you can use locking struts on both sides, but it does make lowering the pop-top trickier with only two hands.

Operation note: Typically, you'll need to push the top up pretty hard in order to utilize the locking feature on the strut. The bottom of the red plastic collar must clear the end of the strut cylinder, and then you slide it over to one side into the locked position, see the video tab for a visual description of this. If you cannot get the lock to engage, you will need to remove the lock tube from the strut, pop the lock button off (it is glued in place), and cut the lock tube down the appropriate amount.
