Spare Tire Mount for Universal Carrier

This simple (yet robust) tire mount allows you to carry a spare tire on our Universal Carrier for Bus and Vanagon.

This kit has two options for wheel mounting styles. Mounting the tire with the wheel face outward allows you to show off the rim of your wheel. Mounting with the wheel face inward allows you to gain some otherwise wasted space, especially when combined our Reverse Spare Tire Storage Kit or a Trasharoo. Select in the dropdown which mounting style makes the most sense for your vehicle. Combine with the Spare Tire Nut Lock to secure your valuable spare from any opportunistic thieves.

Wheel Compatibility: We designed the spare tire mount to accommodate all the Volkswagen 5x112 pattern wheel and tire combinations that GoWesty offers on 2WD and 4WD vehicles.

Installation note: For use on a Bus or Vanagon, this kit requires our rear plate steel bumper, our bumper-mounted swing-away arm, and either the universal carrier or tire carrier accessory for use.

Weight Limits

Our swing away trays have a maximum safe load limit of 180 lbs. When using the tray, this weight is not to exceed 24" in height and be kept within the confines of the tray horizontally and centered within the tray. If using the universal carrier, 35 of these pounds may be shifted to the upper portion of the arm (the 180 lb. total limit still applies).
