Some of the biggest issues when owning a BMW can come from cooling system components. Even through years of improvement, the same failure is seen with the plastic fittings and adapters from years of hot to cold temperature fluctuation. The N54 engine sees failure at the plastic cylinder head outlet adapter connecting the cylinder head to the thermostat hose – the stock plastic adapter simply shears off at the end of the barbed fitting, creating a massive coolant leak. This billet aluminum upgrade replaces the failure-prone plastic original with aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum that will never wear out, crack, or leak.

• N55 engines need to use a slightly thinner O-ring for installation

Installation Tips:

• Remove two 10mm bolts
• Remove the old fitting from the engine block – the O-ring needs to be removed as well as it may get stuck inside
• Clean the outlet on the engine block – remove any remaining pieces from the coolant hose
• Install the new fitting – lubricate the seal O-ring before installation, then tighten the two 10mm bolts
• Slide the coolant hose onto the outlet port and tighten the clamp
