Product Description
Turn what could be an expensive trip to the repair shop into a fix that costs pennies on the dollar—or even better, a satisfying DIY project at home—with our Clutch Pedal Fix Kit.
This nifty kit restores even the most worn-out clutch pedals without removing the pedal assembly from the vehicle, even if the clutch pedal master cylinder clevis pivot hole is completely blown out. No welding, no drilling, no hassle. It might seem like magic, but it’s really just smart, thoughtful engineering.
Fits: 1980–91 Vanagon with Manual Transaxle
Our clever GoWesty Clutch Pedal Fix Kit eliminates the need to remove the clutch pedal, weld it up, drill a new hole and put it back in—a process that normally requires removing the entire dashboard and clutch/brake pedal assembly, which takes a professional, experienced mechanic (that also has a welder) pretty much all day to accomplish. The GoWesty Clutch Pedal Fix Kit will take this same mechanic under an hour to achieve a better result. And if you’re handy and patient, you can absolutely tackle it yourself. Check out our video and see if it’s the right job for you.
So, how does it work?
The kit forms a brand-new clevis pin hole using a U-shaped piece that clamps onto the clutch pedal tab. The new clevis slips over the top, and the pin pops right in. Honestly, the hardest part of the whole process is removing the old cotter pin. Our updated clevis pin uses a spring-loaded ball that simply snaps into place—no more cotter pin wrangling. Not only does the repair take a fraction of the time, but the GoWesty pivot design also provides twice the bearing surface as the original VW design. So this is far from a "patch job," it's an improvement.
Yeah, GoWesty has your back!
