Product Description

This brand-new aftermarket ignition distributor is a vital component to the proper operation of your engine. It is responsible for delivering spark to each cylinder at just the right moment to ignite the fuel and air mixture.

With these vehicles becoming older by the day, we are seeing more and more poor running (and no-running) issues due to worn-out parts related to this area of the ignition system. Whether it is the distributor itself, the electronic "hall sender," or the lowly but critical cap and rotor, this complete unit will ensure this part of your system is up to snuff. Includes O-ring.

This part Includes:
• New aftermarket distributor
• New hall sensor unit
• New distributor cap
• New ignition rotor

• New distributor drive O-ring

Important installation tip: These new distributors are supplied with a distributor cap and ignition rotor pre-installed. On occasion, the cap will have the incorrect firing order listed. The correct firing order for all flat four VW engines is 1-4-3-2. Please install your ignition wires in this order. Failure to do so will cause your engine to misfire. Also, be sure that the ignition rotor is pressed firmly into place and bottoms out on the shaft. If the rotor is not fully seated, it may damage the cap (and itself) as it rotates.

Also, to install this distributor, ignore the Bentley manual which is overly complicated. Just follow these steps:

1) Rotate engine to TDC #1: Rotor pointing in toward the #1 spark plug wire
2) Replace the distributor and clock it so the rotor points toward the #1 spark plug wire
3) Start the engine and set the timing to 35 degrees at 3000rpm.

Installer beware: Changing out any one part of your EFI system that is faulty with a new or rebuilt part may cause worse running because other settings may have changed over time to compensate for the faulty part you are replacing. Following the baseline settings procedure in the Bentley manual is required after installation. Also, please read our return policy related to electric and electronic items.
