  • What is the difference between silicone hoses and rubber hoses?

Silicone offers better resistance and longevity over rubber. Rubber is cheap and easy to manufacture, which is why nearly all cars from the factory come with rubber hoses for coolant, oil, vacuum and other vital engine components. But they will crack and fail over time due to the heat cycling in the engine bay. By choosing silicone over rubber, you are performing cheap maintanence and preventing wear-and-tear failures.

How do I choose the right size for me?

If you are unsure what size you need, measure the outer diameter of the pipe or connection and match it the best you can to our table below. If the exact size is not available, the next smaller size may suffice depending on the elasticity and application. Give us a call if you are still unsure!

What sets BOOST silicone hoses apart from the competition?

There are several factors that make our hoses truly unique. Every silicone hose that leaves our warehouse comes with an imprinted QR code that contains all of our rigorous testing protocols and burst pressures. You yourself can check and verify this information to ensure you are getting a silicone hose backed with the most thorough quality assurance standards on the market.

BOOST hoses also all come with a high Shore A hardness rating. Shore A hardness is a scale to determine the hardness of plastics and rubber, that scale goes from 0-100. Our hoses come with a 70 (±5) Shore A hardness, which means it doesn't bend easily and retains much better shape under pressure or vacuum loads than the more commonly found 40 Shore A hardness found in other silicone hoses. So with our hardness rating, you can be sure you are getting proper airflow under boost or intake applications.

What types of clamps should I use on these silicone hoses?

For smaller hoses that deliver fluids or see very low levels of vacuum, standard worm gear clamps are suitable. However, for applications that see more load or pressure, we recommend using T-bolt clamps or torque clamps - both of which we offer! Standard worm gear clamps can indeed be used, but depending on the application, the temperature environment surrounding the silicone and how they are installed, they can cut into the material causing leaks. It's always a safer bet to use a T-bolt clamp as they can better ensure 360 degree clamping force on the hose without cutting into it. Especially when you get into the larger diameter hoses.

    Some other things to consider...

  • Remember that the diameter always refers to the inner diameter, so be sure to consider that when choosing the size for you.
  • An easy way to figure out the right clamp size, multply the hose's wall thickness by 2. That will give you the right clamp size!
  • If you are having trouble finding the exact size, the next smaller size is usually enough to suffice.
  • Our silicone hoses are 1-3mm elastic

  • BOOST not only delivers extremely high quality at a competitive price, but we have the testing to back our claims - and we can prove it. The BOOST products silicone hoses have achieved and many times even exceeded the quality of silicone hoses compared to ones made by well known manufacturers. This silicone is durable and proven to last through hard use. Many rely on silicone hoses made by BOOST products, so we have you covered for any level of build!
